Liverpool

Discover one of the UK’s most historic cities

Liverpool is one of the UK’s most iconic cities, with a rich history, and plenty of things to see and do. Visit Liverpool, and experience its unique attractions, world-famous sporting events and phenomenal musical heritage – not to mention one of the friendliest welcomes in the world.

GET TO GRIPS WITH LIVERPOOL CULTURE

Take a trip to the famous Albert dock – the most visited UK tourist location outside of London. Here you’ll find a wealth of museums and galleries, including The Liverpool Tate, the Museum of Liverpool, and the outstanding Beatles Story. If you’re keen to learn more about The Beatles, you can also jump aboard the Magical Mystery Tour – a two-hour trip around the city, which takes in all the major Beatles landmarks, including Penny Lane and Strawberry Field.

LIVERPOOL SPORTING VENUES

Liverpool has two major football teams, and you can book tours around both Goodison Park, where Everton Football Club is based, and Anfield – legendary home of Liverpool Football Club. Alternatively, if you’re a keen golfer, you’ll know that this region is known as England’s Golf Coast, with three Royal Links courses. Horse-racing is also huge in the area, with famous race courses at Aintree and Haydock.

SHOPPING

Few cities do shopping as well as Liverpool. Liverpool ONE, based in the heart of the city, is home to over 160 major high street shops and designer brands, making it one of the most popular shopping venues in the country. If you’re looking for boutique shops, head to ultra-trendy Cavern Quarter, where you’ll find the Vivienne Westwood store, or visit Bold Street – which Lonely Planet once voted the best shopping street in the country.

With the largest number of galleries and museums outside London, plus a wealth of restaurants, bars and local attractions, it’s not surprising that Liverpool remains one of the most popular destinations in the UK.
